On 4 January 2017, a total of 50 students and 1 lecturer, Chen Xuewei, from Chinese Studies at Singapore Ngee Ann Polytechnic visited the monastery. Among many concrete ways of enhancing students’ interest in Chinese studies and cultures, one best way is bringing them to a field abundant with Chinese epigraphic materials or evidences, explaining to them the meaning and purpose of those couplets and inscriptions found there. In support of Singapore Chinese studies and culture, we specially arranged Mr. Koh Mun Hong, SLM Art Advisor, to lead and teach the students on that day. 2016 Cultural Medallion Award recipient Mr. Koh Mun Hong is a self-taught poet and artist versed in the art of Chinese calligraphy and ink paintings. Under his guidance, we hope more students will be inspired by the art of Chinese cultures.
